Best Trekking Boots for your Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Having the right trekking boot for your Annapurna Base Camp Trek is going to make or break your trip. Below we are going to present five different trekking boots that we have personal experience with.  Of course there are a lot of wonderful options out there for trekking boots, however these are some of our favorite! Ian Taylor has climbed Everest to the top, led 35+ treks to Everest Base Camp and 5+ treks to Annapurna Base Camp over the last 15 years. Read some REVIEWS from our treks and then read some more advice for this Trek.

When you are picking your trekking boot, you want to make sure they fit some important criteria.  Firstly, they should be comfortable and waterproof.  Next, they need to have good ankle support as well as a more rigid sole.  The Annapurna Base Camp trail is rugged and rocky. Therefore, making sure you have a good and supportive boot is essential!

1). La Sportiva Trango TRK GTX

Our favorite trekking boot at the moment are the La Sportiva Trango GTX. We prefer a more rigid sole under foot and these boots do a great job. They are warm, lightweight and waterproof. Some of our Sherpa and Kilimanjaro guides wear these boots as well. Ian used these boots on four Kilimanjaro climbs this year along with three Everest Base Camp trips, and they are still in great condition for the same again next year.  Not only would we suggest these boots for Annapurna Base Camp treks, but also for Kilimanjaro climbs, Everest Base Camp treks and other treks around the world.

2). Salomon Quest 4D GTX

Another great option is the Salomon Quest 4D GTX Trekking boots. More and more people are using these trekking boots on a wide range of our trekking adventures around the world. They are comfortable, sturdy, waterproof and a very resilient trekking boot.  We would recommend these boots for Annapurna Base Camp, Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro, Inca Trail and a range of other treks.

3). Scarpa Kenesis

Ian has used the Scarpa Kenesis pro GTX trekking boots for a few years. They are a little heavier than other trekking boots but would work great for an Annapurna Base Camp Trek, especially in the colder months. If you maintain them well, you will have them for years.  Scarpa are always re-inventing trekking boots and if they fit your foot correctly, then they may be the right boot for you. They work great and last a long time.  We would also recommend these boots for a Kilimanjaro climb, Elbrus or other treks around the World.

4). Mammut Trovat

Ian has also used a range of Mammut trekking boots over the years. He really likes the Mammut Trovat guide High trekking boots. They are really durable, reliable and will last a long time. The high ankle support is great for the rocky terrain and stairs you will encounter and all around a great boot for the Annapurna Base Camp trek.  All these boots will last a long time if you look after them well.  These would be a great option for Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Everest Base Camp and more!

5). Meindl Vaccum

You could also consider using the Meindl Vaccum trekking boots.  These are a good option for an Annapurna Base Camp trek, as well as a wide range of trekking peaks and multi-day trekking adventures. These are a very popular boot and we have a lot of people using these boots on all of our trekking trip. They are an excellent choice for mixed rocky terrain and long distance hiking.
